In September, Pixel Thermographics Director Mark Pedersen carried out a presentation to delegates at the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) conference on Condition Based Maintenance. Examples were given along with advice on best practice when conducting thermographic surveys in the Marine industry.
In January 2009 we took delivery of our fleet of vehicles which you may see when on your travels. Apparently they are 'distinctive and visually stimulating' so feel free to flash or honk if you agree.
In December we were invited to Cairo - Egypt to give a presentation to a large delagation of senior representatives from the Egyptian petrochemical industry. In October 2008 we carried out a thermographic survey of the roof areas at Macclesfield College. The warranty of the new build was due to expire and we were contracted to inspect and report any damage to the roof. Our engineer highlighted 2 water leaks and an area in the glass atrium where air escape was occuring due to a failed seal. The inspection was carried out in one night and a full report was presented to the client within four working days.
In August 2008 we were asked to help Lafarge Cement with a problem relating to pipeline blockages which had been ongoing for several months. One of our trained engineers spent time discussing the problem with the management team before carrying out some analysis of the plant. Before the end of the day he had identified the cause and location of the problem and also had time to carry out inspection of some of the mechanical equipment where a failing bearing was also identified.

Pixel Thermographics were approached to give a presentation at the CBM Europe (Offshore Condition Based Maintenance Team) meeting held in Aberdeen on 19th May. We were asked to present on 'Offshore Thermography' based on our experience in this field. Director of Pixel, Mark Pedersen gave the presentation to the team which included senior members of some of the major oil and gas companies who have a presence in the North Sea. The presentation was well received and demonstrates our standing and experience in this field.
Pixel Thermographics were approached by a local school who were taking part in the Engineering Education Scheme 2008 project. They were working on a project on energy efficiency in buildings and were seeking some support in helping them demonstrate energy loss. Pixel Thermographics provided an engineer free of charge to conduct a survey and produce a report on the main school block. Congleton High School used this report as a major part of their project which was presented at the North West presentation day at Manchester University. The school received excellent feedback on their project and we were proud to be involved with helping the students achieve their aim.
